Get in touch with the seller, even though they were "cheap" you still bought a product which should have come free of defects/damage. If the seller gives you no satisfaction then contact ebay, if the seller is a business and not an individual, tell them that you are a user on truck owner forums, and you will be sure to warn the huge number of truck owners who use the forums abouttheir business practices...

As mentioned above, get a hold of the seller first. Restocking fees usually only apply if the item is returned for refund. If you are willing to exchange the product for a new set, there will be no restocking fee, but you will have to pay shipping to get them back to the seller. If you have the boc and packing and ship via Fedex, you will be out maybe $20 - $30 to get it back to them shipping it ground. If they are not willing to exchange the product without restocking fees, then you will be looking around at paying 30% total what you paid for the item (including the shipping). Usually not worth it to some, but those that don't have the extra money to burn will send them back.

As far as your Seige horns, I don't know your whole story, but I have a set of their horns and I am extremely happy with there customer service and tech support. There item came as described, the pump crapped out on me 1 week later, and with no questions asked, they sent me a new pump assembly.

Worst case scenario, if you used paypal with a credit card you can always dispute it with your cc company.

I did use PayPal.

I figure if I already spent $49.99 on shipping and it costs me about the same to send them back, I paid about $100.00 to ship a set of $129.99 nerf bars.

Sad fact is other than the dents, they look pretty good.

I guess they don't read e-mail on the weekend so hopefully I hear back from them by Monday.

definitely try to work it out with the seller first but don't pay to ship anything back. email pics and a nice letter explaining the problem, don't threaten yet. if the will not ship you new bars and refund the cost for you to shipthe defective onesback ( if they even make you, as they are useless to them anyway ) then i would contact pay-pal and your CC company and have them reverse the charges. then you can leave the nasty feedback and send a new email that they better come pick up their defective crap or you will start charging them storage fees [:-]

Unlike some who like to vent uncontrollably I did take a few pics and sent a very cordial e-mail to the seller detailing every step taken until the damage was discovered. Hopefully they will make things right without trying to hose me for more $$$.

That is definately the best way to go. If you start out being thorough and polite you will usually get a similar response from whoever you are working with. Wether it be this situation or being overcharged at the grocery store. Keep us updated!

Ahhh yes as my dear old granny used to say...."You will catch more flies with honey than with vinegar".....
Try the professional & polite way first, then use appropiate force if needed.

UPDATE: 08/01/07

After sending one e-mail and two messages via eBay and getting no response, I requested the seller's phone # from eBay today. I called and spoke to someone in customer service who apologized for the delay in reading the e-mail. He said if the bars were dented, if I sent pics they would send me new bars free of charge.

I told him to look at my e-mail (pics attached), which he did. He said I should receive new replacement bars within a week.

When I get them, I'll post how they look and take a pic installed on the truck if they are OK.

What an ordeal!
