Default Sometimes It doesn't Pay To Be Cheap...

I wanted a set of polished stainless steel nerf bars and I found a set on eBay for $129.99 plus $49.99 shipping. Supposedly they are a "name brand" nerf bar, but as the rubber step is logo-free, they are a steal.

They arrived today, and while the box looked a little ragged, there appeared to be no damage, so shipping was accepted. Upon opening the box, the bars (which were wrapped in foam sheeting and plastic wrap) appeared fine, so I opened them up. That's when I discovered both had dents.

Now, you have seven days to return them, but shipping is non-refundable. And there is a 15% restocking fee if you open them up (although there was no way to tell if they were damaged without opening them up). So the dilemma is...what to do?

Install them andlive with a few dents I may get regardless?

Send them back and get screwed on shipping and restocking?

See if the sellerwill work out a deal?

What say you?

If you can afford the extra money/ send them back. You will never be happy with them if not. I know I wouldn't be!

Ebay has a program called fair trade, call and ask them about it...I think if the product was damaged there should be no return fee or restocking fee. Did you pay shipping insurance? If so try to work it out with the shipper (Fed Ex or whomever) most companies understand as they will drop a pkg on your step without a signature.
I'd try first working with the company, you'd be amazed at what a negative feedback comment/rating will do to their sales!

Call the seller....especially if they show as a 'Power Seller.' On guy kept sending my a YJ top for my Jeep (TJ), and finally sent the right one. He told me to keep the (two) YJ tops, covered all shipping and simply asked for a fair and positive review. So he got it....and in addition,my buddy has a couple of free tops for his YJ.

I'd definately start trying to work with the seller first. See what you can work out and start out polite. If it doesnt work tell him you'll contact ebay and get back to him. There is no reason you should have to settle for dented nerf bars...

[sm=offtopic.gif][sm=rant.gif]

I had that recently happen to my Siege Engineering train horns.
The trumpets had small dings in several places on two trumpets.
If I wanted that sort of thing, I would have bought their "slightly imperfect" horns they sell on e-bay, for a lot less money!
I'm STILL awaiting a refund, after going through all the polite stuff etc.
Soon, negetive feedback WILL appear for this compoany and a threatend call to e-bay, as they also screwed me around on the shipping and missing parts!
I feel for you bdhuntrI really do!
Al.

I would definately try to contact the seller. If they want their feedback rating to stay decent, they'll try and work with you. Like you said, there is no way to see if there is damage unless you open it up. My guess is that the return policy and re-stocking fee is in regards to people who purchase their products and then decide they don't want them. Damaged items are a whole different ballgame. I'm sure you'll be able to work it out with them. Keep us posted.
