Default Exhaust Help

My grandson owns a 2005 dodge ram and was interested in putting an exhaust on it. I have a flomaster 40 series on my ford f150 and i wanted to know which sounds better on a 4.7 the flowmaster 40 series or 50 series. He comes into town in a few days any sugestions would be greatly appreciated.

It depends on how loud he wants it. 40 is louder than 50. We actually have a thread on the 3rd generation section up above for exhaust questions. There may be some answers there for you as well if you haven't checked it out yet. Actually, here's the link for you: https://dodgeforum.com/m_835725/tm.htm

i have an 03 with a 4.7 and i absloutey LOVE my 40's, the sound is just incomparable to anything else. i've had numerous compliments pulling into gas stations about my exhaust. a buddy of mine has 50's on his 04 4.7, its still sounds good, but i like it a lottle louder, his seems to get extremely quiet from 1800 to about 2300 RPMs, and thats when mine sounds the best.

Is he looking striclty for sound? Or is performance a factor too? If its strictly sound i'd say the super 40. If performance is wanted to i'd look into the Aero3030. It sounds great but adds a bit more performance than you will see from the flowmasters.

Flowmasters have great sound, the 40 series is a little louder than the 50's. But for performance, there are a lot better choices out there. I've seen numbers done on Flowmasters that show in many cases they don't flow as well as stock.
Wished I'd have researched it before I got my muffler (not a Flowmaster, but an exactclone of the 40 series).

If I had the chance to do mine all over again.....

Now that I have some miles on it, I absolutely love it and wouldn’t change a thing!
