My god, y'all are a bunch of redneck's!!! Talking about putting a CB in your pickup, jeesh, next thing you know you will be mounting ducks on your hood!

Ok Rubber Duck.
Redhemi I have been busy but I will help out the best I can. I will measure it sometime soon.
I thought about 2 antennas but after holding a second one up there I didn't like it. Just my opinion.
My radio's range is not to good. It's been peaked and tuned. I think it's my antenna. It's a Frieghtliner 4ft whip. I put on a bent Wilson 2000 trucker antenna and there's a big difference. But I still need a new one. Anybody really know there cbs. Would that be a good antenna to have? I like where I mounted it, I don't want to change that.

maybe it's just me, but more than half of the pickups i see on the road (in north NJ!) have CB antennas floppin around in the breeze! so as far as i can tell they are far from dead!
New Jersey Turnpike = Speeding Tickets & Hassle.
Many other states radrs detectors are illegal. CB's do not need any registration any longer.
Hence, no speeding tickets, no insurance premiums and peace of mind that truckers will help you out if needed: one may not like a CB but you can't knock it. IMHO.

I haven't figured out the use of a CB. At least here in AZ. Range is too limited to do any good. Maybe 1 miles tops but more likely 1/2 mile. FMS radios do far better. I suppose one could get several miles in flat areas of the country. Of course an illegal linear amp can be added too!
Sounds like your Antenna is not tuned. Check the compatibility between the CB and Antenna also. The combination of these two are as overlooked as much as the coaxial cable & connections.
i mounted my cb under the stock cupholder (03 1500 Auto 4x4) and ran the coax and power wires through the firewall by cutting a piece of rubber with the brake cable in it. Just slit an X in it and push everything through. Works great doesn't draw attention from either side of the firewall and get ready to trade trucks just pull everything and no one notices.
And if you really want to talk a good ways off, then switch to a VHF. Clear as a bell and can really talk. Even just the handheld, but I know in NC they are illegal to mount in your truck unless you are a commercial fisherman.
Ooops!
