Sporadic stalling?
I, recently, completed an exhaust upgrade on my '04 Ram. (See specs below) I had the headers, mufflers, and dual exhaust done and added the high-flow cats, about 3 months later. Since the cats have been added, I have experienced stalling on the run. The first time, I was on an off-ramp and decelerating. The second, I was climbing a hill and decelerating, while making a left turn. Therpm'sslowly went down to about 600, hovered, and then dropped out slowly, until the stall. Has anyone seen this? It has to be related to themost recent mod, right? Nowarning lights or codes were showing. Each time, Iwas able to restart and drive away. Will a programmer help, in any way? [&:]
Mine does the same thing and no a programmer won't help. I have one and I still stall out at least once a month. Same scenario too, always slowing down and making a left turn.
I'm sorry that it is happening to you, too. Let me know if you get anymore info. Thanks for letting me know that I'm not alone. By the way, have you done anything as far as troubleshooting the issue?
I have an 05 1500 4x4 Hemi and had stalling problems. At first only on left turns, then it kept getting more frequent, and got to the point where it stalled about once a day. I read all the posts about stalling and tried everything. Some of these have helped others:
Change the spark plugs and wires....did not help me
Cleaned the throttle body (brake cleaner recommended by Dodge TSB)...did not help me.
Reflashed the PCM per TSB (see below)...no help
Used Seafoam (there are posts about this cleaner)...no help
Even though I had no codes, I was desperate and changed the EGR. Not once since I did that has the truck ran rough or stalled. That was the problem for me.
Here is some other relavent info:
On May 16, 2005, ODI opened preliminary evaluation PE05-027 to investigate complaints of engine stalling in model year 2004-05 Dodge durango SUVS and Ram 1500 series pickups equipped with the 5.7L V8 engine. Information provided by DaimlerChrysler during PE05-027 indicated that a large percentage of the complaints are related to an idle undershoot condition that may cause the engine to stall during turning maneuvers. In February 2005, DaimlerChrysler revised the powertrain control module software in production vehicles and issued a technical service bulletin (tsb 18-013-05) releasing the new software as a service remedy for the idle undershoot condition. The bulletin was superceded by tsb 18-013-05A in April 2005. DaimlerChrysler believes that the failure rate for stalling while driving due to the idle undershoot condition is low and that the bulletin has adequately addressed the problem.since PE05-027 was opened, ODI has continued to receive complaints from owners of the subject vehicles who allege experiencing engine stall incidents under all types of driving conditions. In some instances the stalling has continued after the vehicle received the service bulletin repairs. This investigation has been upgraded to an engineering analysis (EA05-018) to further assess the scope, frequency, and safety consequences of the alleged defect in the Dodge durango and Ram 1500/2500/3500 series pickup trucks that were produced before the pcm calibration change was implemented in production in February 2005. Investigation was initiated on November 02 2005. For detailed information & supporting documents, see the official NHTSA page concerning investigation #EA05018

I changed the EGR about 45 days ago. The truck stalled once to twice a day consistantly for the last two weeks I had the problem, and has not stalled once since I changed the EGR. I was also feeling like the engine was holding back or hesitating and even bucking when the engine was cold until the EGR was changed. It runs very good now. I was to the point that I wanted to trade it in because I did not feel like it was reliable anymore.
Thank you, sir. you have been most helpful. I think I'm gonna start there.

Good luck. I hope you find the problem so you can go back to enjoying your truck again without the thought in the back of your mind if it will stall again ( I hated that feeling).
I also have read how others have changed their exhaust and had problems and thought it had something to do with less back pressure.
I put on a Borla exhaust, but never had a problem with that. Your exhaust upgrade is more extensive than mine though.
