Default Turbo

I'm looking to turbo the 3.7 engine in my dakota and I'm just tring to find out if anyone has ever Turbo'd it before. I know I'm in a Ram forum section here but its not the vehical I'm concerned about its the engine and I figured if anyone would have a need to turbo the 3.7 it'd be a ram owner. I have found a universal kit from STS thanks to a couple guys in the dakota forum. So its not so much the turbo I need help with its the computer and sucess or loss stories. By the way does anyone know how much this engine costs if I were to blow it up?

Thanks for your help guys.

Jet Chip will make you a custom chip just let them what you want to do with it.

If you want to run a turbo mite as take the motor out and put the good stuff in it from the get go like some good Pistons/Rings. Crank and Rods get them balanced nut to nut.

I dont know if you nered to get the heads O-Ringed but it can't hurt with keeping the boost in.

I sent a email to jet asking how I can get it tuned because just sending them a custom request does not get it true dyno tuned. I did not even think about doing the other sugestions you made but its worth considering but I did want to keep the project cost down as much as I could plus that gets into work that if I do it myself like I am tring to do I might end up with a heaping pile of scrap metal any how. May be I can make some of the extras future upgrades when the truck becomes a true project vehical and get a different daily driver.

By the way the current goal is a low bost any how, aiming for 40- 60 hp which sould not affect fuel effeciency from what I can tell of the other research that I have done. I mean I could gain little to no hp and improve fuel effecincy if I wanted due to the nature of the turbo to make use of waste power.... Now I'm rambling.....

I look forward to a response from jet about my tuning question and I'm waiting on STS for a part list from their kit as well. I really want to hear some sucess stories from others with this engine. I heard of one guy with the 3.7 in a liberty running 6 psi wish I knew more about it tho.

I can't stop rambling so thanks for some more pointers to look into, considering I'm at 50k miles on my 05 Dakota it might not be a bad thing to look into b4 Turboing.

Jet said they can't do it because of something with the map sensor and negative vacumme. Any other ideas you guys can think of to come up with a way to turbo this V6? I'm all ears and runing out of ideas.

Free bump from me, I'm interested in doing this to my '03.

I don't have the know-how or the funds YET, and if there are any horror stories, I'll spend my money elsewhere!

That turbo kinda makes me wonder, where by the description it says for 96-00 Honda Civic's with the B-Series Engine.

right i was wondering that to but if you start with the beginning of the web site and do your truck with the 3.7 v6 thats what it gives you in the turbo/nitrous category. maybe its compatible but its a $1500 risk im not willing to take
