I was talking with the dude at the local performance shop (Hemi's is their specialty) and he actually pushes theFlowmaster, when I asked him why, he said that Trucks (unless they are 2wd drag racers) need a certain amount of "backflow", especially if headers & high flow/no cats are used or there is too much Torque lost at the low RPM band. A little bit at the muffler makes the truck perform better in mud, climbing, towing and all the low speed grunt work. So maybe we do have the right muffler...

I think all the negative Flowmaster talk is coming from the people who are mostly concerned with their 1/4 mile times... Where there are undoubltably better muffler choices for them...
I agree. I am trying to build more low end than high end power for the strip. I have a Mega Cab. At best when done with all of the mods, the best it would probably run would be maybe a mid 16 sec 1/4 mile time. And that would be stellar for a 6,700 lb Mega Cab with a solid front axle and 4x4. I think the acceleration is brisk now the way it is. Just want to build more torque for towing my 5,500 lb combined cartrailer.

I'd say the AT3030 sounds like it's straight out of NASCAR. The shop where I had it done had never heard of the AT3030 and I just remember when they did some neutral revs the whole place was shocked at the awesomeness of the sound. If you contact Flowmaster they will tell you that they do not recommend running the 40 on the Hemi. That's why they have the 50 series HD, I believe. They say it the Hemi outflows the 40.

Anybody hear tell of anybody running "Cherry Bombs"?They were big when I was a kid, but I hear they are makinga comeback. I haven't heard them mentioned on the truck forums at all though.
