Lift for '05 Ram ?'s
I am very new to the truck scence. I have been a car guy for many years, and still am, but I just ordered my first truck. It is a 2005 white Ram 2500 4x4 quad cab sport. It should arrive in a couple of weeks. I want to get a lift on it as soon as possible. I want something that is bigger than most on the road but not obnoxiously huge. I was thinking around maybe a 6" lift w/ 37's (I saw a ram 2500 like this and it looked really good). However I have no idea what brand to use, or anything. Like I said, I am completely new to this. Any direction and recommendations from yall would be very appreciated. Thanks a lot.

First Off, Welcome to DodgeForum. Second, Cummins or HEMI? As far as a lift is concerned I'm sure there is one out their to fit your needs, anyone made for a 2003 and newer should work. Check out some of the DodgeForum vendors and see what they have. However, if you value your warranty I would suggest against slapping a lift under the truck right off the bat.
Thanks for the welcome. It is a Hemi. Are they pretty **** about the warranties with these trucks. I figured they would just void the warranty for the suspension components that were upgraded, I wouldnt expect them to warranty something that didn't come from the factory. Or do they typically void the entire warranty. As to the lift, what brands should i look for and which ones should i try to stay away from. I've heard people talk about pro's and con's of all sorts of brands, just trying to get a feel for the market and the quality out there.
Your warranty depends on the dealership you goto, the closet one i have to me, sold a friend of mine his 6" lift, and magnaflow exhaust, and had a shop in town install it, and all coverd by warranty, also sold him a lemon Jet chip, but hey, thats what dealerships do, rob you of your $$.
Really.. its up to you. Take your pick from Rancho, Superlift, Tuff Country, Pro Comp, ORD, RCD, Skyjacker, Trailmaster. The list goes on, I myself perfer Rancho (only go upto 4"), Superlift (6" for our Dodge's), RCD or Race Car Dynamics (custom). ProComp is another good brand. Shop around, and call tech support to ask questions. See whats in you area, and price it out. Some companys have different options on amount of shocks, methods of lifting the rear, either with blocks, add-a-leaf's or all new rear springs. Some alos suggest tire size, which brings up, do you have 17" rims or 20"s. Rancho offers two kits, one for 17's and another for the 20's, were Superlift only offers one for the 20's. It has to do with the tie-rod ends being to big for the 17's, and they recomnd a certin backspacing. I know this cuz my firend has the 17's and i did the research for a kit for him. Most of those names should bring up there home page in a Google search, if not, let me know and ill track em down.
Thanks man, I appreciate it. I've mainly been looking at the 4wheel parts website. That one seemed the most comprehensive, are there others like that that have many brand names and other accessories as well? I kinda liked the fabtech, is that a quality brand?

You can goto the manufacturs homepage and search for retailer's, should be able to find place's in your area, to save shipping cost's. Also try a google search for truck accesories, etc.. theyre's a outlet on every corner almost. lol
Fabtech is a good brand, and make nice lift's but i dont believe they make one for our dodge's. I could be wrong, but i believe they stopp at 2001.
As for teh dealer voiding your warranty, ya they can.. might. its up to whom you deal with and whats wrong with it. Doing exhaust could void some warranty also im sure, even a air intake. I put syntehic oil in mine from the first oil change, and dodge' doesnt recommend this, maybe i void the warranty on my motor, its a chance you take. They can tell what cuased something to fail, if your front diff' blows up, theyll look at it, and the rest of the underside, and tell if your beating on it offroad, or just got the big tires for looks. I myself would go the whole mile, and rear gear the diff's to take the strain off the drivetrain, but thats me.
Hope this helps
