Default Tie Rods

Hi All, I just took my truck to get inspected and was told that I needed a tie rod (outer)on the drivers side.Is this a common thing with these trucks? My truck only has 35000 miles and I rarely drive it .Its an 04 4x4 hemi and my luck would have it that my warranty ran out in june.(3yr-36,000).Can I install a better part than OEM.

Your 7/70 power train warranty MIGHT cover it. Not sure.

You probably just need the end, not the entire thing. Should not cost more than $80-$90 at a good shop. I also could be wrong but the 7/70 might have a $100 deductible? Someone else would have to chime in on that.

The other thing you will probably want to do is have it aligned, which will be another $50-100 depending on warranty of the alignment.

yeah powertrain warranty is $100 deductible....i had to replace both outers on mine along with both upper control arms....it's very easy to do yourself....if you count the number of turns it takes for the old tie rod end to come off and then install the new one the same number of turns then your gonna be pretty damn close to where you were before, but should deffinitly have it aligned.....

not sure of any good aftermarket ones...i just replaced it with OEM since it was readily available
