Default E-Bay CAI

so i have had this Ebay CAI for a while now and i know you get what you pay for but i was wondering if anyone else has the same problem i do with the tube coming apart and the filter and half the piping falling off i believe it was a "Chrome Intakes" so if you have this problem i would like to know how to fix it.

also i would like to say each time it falls off i clean and tighen as much as i can i even changed the hose clamp on it to see if that would help and nothing worked.

On my old hemi I had the same filter never had a problem with it. worked great and I saved a crap load of money to use for gas while getting used to the sound of it .

You can put a little JBweld on the insde of the rubber pieces that hold the tubes together only intake toube to intake tube, do not do it to anything that touches the motor as it will be pretty permanent. that might correct the problem. Did you secure the tube. I used a few tie straps to make sure it was secure. I took my truck off roading with it quite a few times and never a problem.

I'd say exactly what you said in the beginning of your post... you get what you par for... maybe some silicone or something to hold it up?

I have a CAI from EBay ( posted in another thread ) I have no complaints.

It's a short ram from BlingLights. The only downside is that I had to go to a parts place and get ONE clamp. I needed three for the install and they sent two with the kit.

BTW I don't get all of these starnge noises, whrrring and gurgling that many report.

that thing in the pic is not a cold air intake. all your doing is sucking hotter air from under the hood. probably makes you perform worse. try making a heat shield of some sort for it. it will help alot. as for the silicone and jb weld ideas. BAD IDEA. dont put anything that could dislodge and get sucked into your motor on your intake. go to a harware store and go to the plumbing section. lowes or home depot have huge selections of pipe couplers. they are basicly ruber boots with giant ring clamps on both sides. they work great for cold air intakes. you can also get some pretty cheap sheet metal or tin of some sort to make a heat shield. if your savy plastic will work better if you ave a plastic weld setup.

Also that setup in the picture still keeps the resonator box in place. A true CAI will be a direct shot of air into the throttle body. Pull of the resonator and look inside. Its designed to channel the air and reduce noise.
Thats what kills me about all the Ebay CAI. People seem to think a shiny chrome tube with a washable filter makes it an intake.
Wrong answer......
