Default Engine cleaning

Hey guys I have an 02 ram with the 4.7L engine and I just replaced the condensor fan yesterday and the engine is dusty and dirty. Is there anything I need to be aware of when cleaning the engine? I have had the truck for about 2 years now and other than oil changes I never open the hood (knock on wood) it's been a great truck but it does need a good cleaning under there.
Thanks

Make sure the engine is not hot. I like to use simple green cleaner on mine. Just spray it on there and let is sit for a few minutes then hose it off. Probably a good idea to cover your altenator, battery, and fuse box with something.

Yea I'm good on the methods I was concerned with what can and can't get wet. So I'll cover up all the electric and hope for the best.

yea cover up electrical definately. I doubt it'd be too huge a deal if some of it got wet as long as you arn't using like a pressure washer. but it won't take long to cover it up so I say cover it.

Definitely don't force water just gently spray off if needed. You might even get away with simply wipe things down depending on how much dirt and grime you are trying to remove.

The gloss in this kit shines up all the plastic and rubber pieces. They are as shiny as when you clean the tires. Then again I like shiny things.
