Calling all 02-03 5.9 owners
I had an 03 until last year and i had the 5.9l Magnum. I loved it. It was my first Dodge and it hooked me. i now own an 06 with the Hemi and i love it!!! the only thing that i had a problem with was a power steering hose broke two times but other then that it was a very nice truck for me and my family.

I am driving a 2002 quad cab with the5.9L and I believe the drivetrain and motor to be very strong. I have had no problems so far but at the same time, I just made my first payment today. The only thing I have run into is my radio.I believe my amp to be going out. I have the stock infinity system.
I had the stock infinity system too but i added a 400 watt amp on top of the other amp. It is a very strong motor I got to pull a lot of people out of ditches. I pulled my wife's ex out of a water puddle that went up to the bottom of his window. It pulled his late 70's/80's Blazer 4x4 right up and out with ease.
I've had my 02 QC 5.9 for a while now. The only complaint I have is the mileage. Right now I'm averaging bout 12.5-13mpg. Other than that I love the truck. The only way I would get rid of it is if I could find a way to afford a new YELLOW ram. I've always wanted a yellow one, just can't see a $600 payment right now.
I bought my 02 ram 1500 with 5.9L and 49K miles 3 months ago for $8500. Has all options and infiniti stereo.

the 5.9 motor has alot of go fast upgrades available to it... worth it IMO for the $ you'd be paying. If the bux are available though the hemi would be a better choice. you have a higher output to start with...
I have a 2002 QC 5.9 SLT and it's awesome! I got it from the dealership in November of 2005. That truck sounds awesome, like nothing in my town for a stock truck. Everywhere I go people tell me it's a nice truck. I wash it regulary and do touch-up wax job when needed. It's all stock except for the 3" exhaust. Most truck I see have the 2.25" or even 2.50" exhaust. I pulled a 36"stump out with ease and a minivan from some deep mud, the mud hit the botom of the body. As far as the gas it's decent. I put in a Tornando Fuel Saver and my mpg went from around 16.2 to about 18 mpg highway, city is about 15.5 mpg. I'm happy with the truck. There's nothing like pulling up to a stop light and there you are in big truck sitting high up in it and then taking off and making that deep rumble.......it's awesome! That price is not a bad deal.
Yea, they want blue book for it so I doubt they would come off the price but it sounds like a great deal. I also know that the engine is the same as the ones they've used for years so like someone said, there are alot "go fast" upgrades I could buy for it.
thanks for the input guys.
