Default Horse Power gains?

Since my truck was purchased with the dual exhaust already installed I never researched what advantages comes from having this mod. Does anyone know a ballpark figure of how much horse power if any the dual exhaust adds to the 4.7? and is there any other advantages besides the nice sound, Thanks guys

The gain depends on the exhaust you have put on. Decreased back pressure will give you a few ponies but you're not going to see 10% jump in HP. If you're lucky you'll hit a 5% increase. Also putting a higher flow intake will help in this case. As Pappy likes to say, more air in, more air out. This will increase your hp more than just an exhaust.

Edit Typo

Hey Pirata, slick truck. How's the CAI working for you? Have you noticed any difference, since installing?
Also, along another line- From your picture it appears that you have a tool box, in the bed of your truck. Aside from the built in locks that came with the toolbox, have you added any external locks to keep your tools safe?

As stated by Pirata, 5-10%, *maybe*, but you'll never know for sure. The reason is, because most people, myself included, are not willing to spend the dead presidents to pay for a dyno run after doing each mod, including a base run when the truck was bone stock and new.

Compounded with that, what HP advantage YOU get in Colorado (not saying YOU'RE from Colorado, just throwing that out there.) and what Joe Blow truck owner gets in North Carolina, is completely different based on factors, including but not limilted to: Humidity level, elevation, type of dyno, operator of said dyno and a million other factors.

With that being said, I hung Borla exhaust on my 4.7, along with K&N drop in , and a Superchips programmer set on the 91 program. Does it make more ponies? Can't tell ya........

Does it sound better?

Yep.

Does it give me wood driving it?

Yep.

Does it give me more fuel mileage?

If I manage to stay out of the gas pedal, I get 14.7 mpg around town. That lasted about 1.5 tank fulls of gas.

Mod your ride. Love your truck. Unless you're willing to open up the engine and start making serious mods, don't hang your hat on aftermarket parts claims of horsepower "makeage" and the sorts.........

Of course......your "AssDyno-1000i" is always a good clue to gains or no gains!!

I can absolutely feel the difference. The thing freaking rocks.

The bed box is insured by 1911. Go ahead, try to break in, I double dog dare you.

Is your exhaust true dual? True dual in conduction will give a noticable increase in hp at higher rpm. as some one else stated more air in means you have to have a way to let it out. however, for everyday driving around town you wont notice much of a change. I noticed a deaper exhaust note, but other than that for every day driving it felt about the same until i got my programmer.

Just installed my CAI the other day, and didn't notice the gains until this morning.
This morning it was a definite improvement. Felt like +20HP.

I didn't notice any gain from the cat back dual, don't know if it helped at all, but it definitely sounds nicer!

Another factor is how it's piped. Too much diameter and you'll lose low end. I ran 2 1/2's, from the headers through the back. You need to retain a little back pressure...it's a balancing act.

after all was said an done, my 05 4.7 dak peaked at 252 rear wheel horse power since all the mods were complete. the basic 4.7 will dyno around 174 rear wheel horse power with basic mods. intake, exhaust. . i have extensive work done to my motor, cams, flashing and gears which makes it possible for this. first run was with the truck set up for race day and second run was when we messed with the fuel curve. truck did not like run two that much
