I have BD Performance leveling keys in my truck. Very happy with them so far! You probably wont NEED new shocks so no need to do them at the same time unless you have the money and want to. You wont need off road but i'd suggest getting them 2" longer than factory. You'll get back the 2" of travel you lose with stock height.

If you do get keys - you should probably make sure they're cast rather than unhardened steel.......

Default RE: leveling kit help

I had Ready Lift leveling keys installed on my 05 1500 4x4 SLT. Every pothole and speed bump afterwards caused the shocks to top out with a loud thud no matter how slow I went. I then made the mistake of replacing the shocks with stock replacement Bilstein's. They had the same problem, however I have read that some other people that have done the lift get by with the stock Bilstein's fine. I had to get the older Ram shocks for the front that are a few inches longer. I emailed Bilstein support when I was having the topping out problems and they recommended that I NOT get longer shocks because it would be hard on the ball joints, but the truck was almost undrivable over bumps. It was rediculous having to drive VERY slowly over speed bumps in a 4x4.
