Why 6 instead of 8?
previously I had a 2004 quad cab 5.9 liter. averaged about 11-13 miles to the gallon. I have to have a truck since I'm remodelling my house, but the 5.9 liter was eating a hole in my pocket, and I really didn't need that much power anyway. I traded it in for a 2005 regular cab v-6. I lost some options, but will gradually upgrade things. I think the v-6 is alot more practical for me, and it doesn't rape my billfold near as much.
Copy that. Yeah i agree I was just curious on your thinking. Alot of these guys say the 3.7 sucks for mileage but I'm getting 18 in the city right now so I don't think its terrible. Least not for a fullsize truck
I bought mine for one because I needed a truck...and at the time I couldn't afford a V8 HEMI or such. My truck now after the performance parts I threw into it is getting on average about 15-16 mpg on the streets....however, I can't complain though the truck is quite a bit underpowered.
So did the parts you have lifted actually make a difference in your trucks performance? It doesn't seem like it would do much since its such a small engine but seems like you've put a significant amount into it
I got mine because my uncle works at a Dodge dealership and he helped me get it brand new for about $12,500. I don't care what kind of engine I have, as long as it gets the job done. It gets good fuel mileage and I can pull my 16' landscaping trailer fully loaded without any problems.
Ibought my 20023.7 last year for 6,500 with 104,000 miles on it. It has 118k now and I have only been getting around 15mpg. My dad just bought a 2008 Silverado with a V-8 for 13,000 and he gets 20-22 mpg hwy.
