Default Magnaflow part #

Hi, I am new to this site, and I need some of your expert help. I have an 05 Ram 5.7 Hemi 4x4 QC and want to put new exhaust on. I am going with Magnaflow; I just need to make sure which one. I want a single in duel out. They will be run straight out the backunder the bumper. I only need the muffler part # because my guy that will install it custom bends the rest. He said he puts on #12258 which is a 5x8x18 2.5 inlet and 2.25 outlets. Is this the right number for my truck? I don't want anything too loud or with any resonation ( the rear resonater is coming out). I just want a nice full noticable sound. I have done many searches and most people don't put there part nubers on when talking about their exhaust. Any help you can give me would be great. Thanks.

I thought all Hemis ran 3 inch pipe.... so the 2.5 in won't work for you....

I wasn't sure about the current pipe, I hadn't looked at its size. Maybe he is planning on going from the 3 down to the 2.5 into the muffler and to 2.25 going out of the muffler. I'm sure this is possible, but is there a problem with doing this? I didn't speak to the main man on the phone, it was one of his employees, so maybe he got it wrong. If the part # is accurate, is this going to be an issue?

He may be able to do a "step down".... I puttin a Magnaflow in my truck next weekend... it's a 3 inch in and a 3 inch out... so it just swappin the mufflers.... But ask before he does... may cost you more if he does more then stated and does'nt tell you upfroint....

I'm running Magnaflows (2 1/2 from headers, out the back under the bumper). It's a little bit of a different config, but the guy that did it said if I went bigger I'd lose a lot of bottom end. He didn't give me a thorough invoice (with part #'s and such). I could look into it, though. Hell, I couldn't even tell you if I lost my resonator or not. I went from single exhaust to dual. Since I added a cat and a muffler, he would have had to add a resonator or lose it all together. I did not ask for it to be removed, though. Regardless, the sound and performance is excellent. I wasn't gonna see too much HP gain, since it's all emissions legal. That's what I get for living is So Cal. Whatever...I'm happy.
