anyone else gettin horrible mpg with the ac on?
I use to be able to go a month on a full tank. now it seems im going through something like 20-30 every few days. i use to drive around with the windows down but lately its been so hot ive had the ac on. anyone encountering the same or similar thing? ive heard of the ac lowering the mpg but not by as much as im getting

Sounds like your compressor is having to work harder for some reason. Maybe the pulley bearings are starting to stick or maybe the compressor is starting to crap out. Its hard to say, have to narrowed it down to the AC being the only factor?

'Summer blend' gasoline also has less Btu per gallon
and gives worse MPG.

The only alternative is a cable-controlled valve under the hood that sends coolant through the heater core. You want that back? They have to keep the AC running and add warm air to it so it continues to provide air at the temp you want that is also dehumidified. Cycling the compressor wouldn't accomplish that.
