Error code P0456
I have read that this error code can be caused by a loose gas cap. Mine was loose and I tightened it. How long before the check engine light will go out or do I have to clear it some how?
Also, I see that some people have a leak from a cracked hose going to a filter of some sort. I can't find one on my 2004 RAM 1500 Rumble Bee. I looked along the frame on both the passenger and driver's side. Does anyone know where it is at?
Thanks,
Dan

MIL will go out after so many warm-up cycles (3 if i remember right) or you can disconnect the battery for about 5 min and that will clear it....look along driver side, inside of the frame rails and there's a charcol canister there (the hoses on there is prolly the ones you talking about, but not sure cause i havent heard people talkin about that...maybe i have but i dont remember lol)
Thanks for the help. Now I found it.The canister didn't look like anything I was expecting so I just overlooked it. I inspected the hoses and they all looked fine. So I unhooked the battery to do a hard
reset and took it for a drive. The check engine light stayed out so it must have been the gas cap.
Again, thank you very much for your help.

I have the very same problem, I have cleared it 3 times. with a diagnostics readr. I then took it to the dealer they said the did some kind of smoke test and didnt find anything wrong, they said it was probably my gas cap {as if i didnt already do that} They said the tested the gas cap with a pressure tester and it was good. Now the light is back on so i called them and they said that to make sure the gas cap was on tight and i should drive it atleast 200 miles and it should go off on its own. Its very frustrating I will make an appointment to take it in again, Ill post back the results

I called these guys from Dodge In my town and they want to charge me another 99.00 to so call diagnose the problem. These guys are a bunch of theives. I dont think i should have to pay for this because i have already paid for thier service wich didnt work. The guy said that because there are so many codes that can make this light come on they would have to charge again. Yeha right. I refuse to Pay for them just clearing the light again. I will just keep resetting it my self for no charge. I wonder if there would be any issues later form it.
