'06 Hemi Oil Filter Access on a 1500 4x4
I just completed my second oil change and everytime I complete this task I curse like a sailor trying to get the oil filter off. Every filter tool I have (wrench, cup type) seems to slip, strip.
Today I wound-up crushing it and then was able to spin it off...W T F!
Any help/hints...Please advise!
Thanks ALL!

Consider using grease on the oilfilter gasket instead of oil. Maybe the Hemi runs hot enough to dry the gasket to the filter mount - and it becomes difficult to remove.
What kind of filter are you using? some have a better quality rubber than others.

go to Sears and buy the oil filter wrench that has like 3 90 degree fingers on it and it goes on a 3/8" ratchet...that will cure your problems of taking it off...and HAND tighten only...never put a wrench on it to tighten it
The K&N Oil filter has a 1" stamped steel nut welded on the end for a wrench or socket.I love it.Give it a try if you have the clearances. I don't know whatthe 1500 looks like around there.
Like everyone says. Don't over tighten it. Lubricate the gasket with clean engine oil.

Thanks for the reply's... When you all state "don't use a wrench when installing the new one".. I'm concerned that the filter would spin loose (from just a hand tighten) from the vibrations.. Should I be???
The filter I used is a Fram "Offroad".
