Default O/D or tow/haul?

i've got an '07 1500 with a 4.7 and 5-speed auto with a 3.92 rear gear. do you guys leave it in O/D in town or switch to tow/haul or disable the O/D mode completely? i'm talking no more than about 20 mph in town.
what i'm looking for is MPG without hurting the trans. in my other trucks i have left it in drive. what has everyone found that is best?

O/D should be fine, your only going from first to second (if your not exceeding 20MPH).

Leave it on. It won;t hurt your set up as you will not be going fast enough for the truck to hunt for the correct gear.

I was kind of wondering the same thing also...So basically you're saying that if i drive no more than 20 MPH i should leave the O/D on or off?

I leave my OD on all the time, except when I'm towing the boat, then I use tow/haul.

tow/ haul electronically changes the trans shift settings. it should be used for heavy loads or trailers when on grade up or down.

OD is for highway or anything over 45mph. the standard is to leave it in OD. if you chose to manually over ride it, at least have it in 3rd (4 spd) or 5th if you have the 6 spd. then the trans will set into an economical running gear while "crusing"...even at 20mph. you can be in 3rd (w/ a 4 sp auto) for optimal rpm..

tinker a bit with the gears..see how it feels...

i drive with OD off all the time around town. with the 4.7 driving in town it is shifts gears soo much that it gets annoying. as long as you dont go above 50 your fine, even at 50 with od off your rpms are still only around 3000... so its up to you your truck will be fine, just dont forget the od is off and get on the highway, lol.....

another question. i was talking to my dad who has an '05 chevy and told him i still needed to mount my brake controller. he said he had to have his computer re-programmed for his to work. i didn't see anything about this in the owners manual. i need to pull my trailer this weekend so if i have to do this then i will have to do it quick.
