Hemi+Manual Transmission=Not Available?????
Hi, I am not actuallya dodge owner yet but I plan on buyin one within 6 months. The only thing is I have a small problem I was hoping someone might be able to resolve. I was told and it also shows on the dodge website that the 5.7L hemi is not available with a manual transmission in the 1500 model. I love the feel of a manual transmission and will definatley not give up on it, I would rather take the 4.7L with manual than a 5.7L auto. I was just wondering if anyone knew if this was true and you actually can't get this or what the deal is. Thanks alot
I don't know about 2007+, but this was true in the 2006 model year. Probably has to do with the MDS I guess.
Another good reason to buy a Heavy Duty Ram instead.
FYI- Get your information from a printed Dodge Ram brochure. Don't believe a Salesman or anyone at a dealership.
They have no clue about what they sell.
They thought mytruck had a PTO not electric winch < wrong>,my truck had MDS <wrong>. I knew more about Power Wagons than anybody there, before I bought it.
Recently I was looking at a dealerships Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT-8 and two Salesmen argued with me that it was not AWD, only 2WD... I got down, looked underneath and told them they were full of crap.

On a 1500 this is correct. You have to go 2500 to get it I believe. I must say, I do like the 6 speed manual behind a 4.7L in my truck though. Pretty aggressively geared (1st is almost a granny, but for running up hills and such I use it still). Haven't done any towing and etc. with it yet though, still breaking the motor in.
Oh, and the salesman I dealt with said it was flex fuel... and I knew that was wrong, but I just let it go. He gave me a good deal and was a nice guy, even if his facts were just slightly off.

no hemi 6sp in a 1500, bad move on dodges part, but in the 2500 it's a blast to drive, I had to step up to the 2500 when I factery orderd my 06, it's a torque monster, not a drag racer, but by no means is it slow and means most excellant on flue, no complaints.
Its quite fun racing the CTD guys, but not off the line
