Tire size revisted.....
I have my 2002 QC 1500, 4.7 that I bought used. I just got it back from the dealer, and had the rear LSD clips replaced and trans serviced. All seems well........(for now......I hope)
During the whole gig, I reentered the SuperChips program and when it got the the part regarding tires, I stopped.
My truck states, in the driver's door jam decal that the factory tire size is 245-70x17. On the truck, sits a set of 265-70x17s......
No mention of 265-70x17's on the door jam sticker, even under optional sizes.
However my SPARE tire.....OEM....is a 265-70x17. What gives? I have 3.55 gears and now I'm wondering if the 245's will give me more shwoop out of the starts and better fuel mileage as well.......
Neither tire is apprently "LT" rated.................[:@]
Comments from the peanut gallary.................??
The SuperChips programmer asked for a tire size greater or smaller then a 31.75" tire, and that's what the 265-70x17 is new..........
Good news is: I locked myself out of the house, drilled out the lock, burnt up the drill lightening a motorcycle rotor for a racer friend, got a new drill and got to use it drilling the lock out, to get back in the house, and installing a new lock set................... and the dealership washed my truck, and cleaned the windows.
Life's good......

My 2002 Ram was born with 245’s and a 3:55 rear. So the stickers all say. The OEM spare is also 245. When I got it used there was 265’s on the ground I switched back to 245’s because I need the gearing effect and did not want to change the front and rear gears. 245’s and 3:55’s were more common than people think. 245’s & 3:55 are almost equal to 265’s & 3:92.
I always run “LT” tires.

I began questioning my own tire size... that's when I discovered it.
I agree that despite the tire being only slightly taller (265) it can effect gearing, especially with 3.55 gears in the rears already.
I'll run the 265's till spring, then go tire shopping....[:@]
