Does anyone have the 4.7L with the 6-speed?
Hi after i found out that the hemi isn't available with the 6speed manual i decided i would rather get the 4.7L with the manual than the hemi with auto. is there anyone else out there in the same boat that could advise me on this. just let me know about power and stuff, i havent ordered mine yet so im trying 2 find out as much as possible before I do.
Get the 3.92 gears if you can. I have an 4.7 auto, but wish it was a stick. The 4.7 pulls good, not hemi good, but I bet with 3.92 gears and a manual you'd give a hemi/auto truck a good run.
no, the 4.7 with an auto is going to beat the 4.7 6sp ( if thier the getrage trans, same as the 6sp in the 2500 5.7 ) every time out.
The 4.7 is a good engine, for a lighter Dakota, if the firmer ride in the 2500 dose not bothier you, don't shy away from a 2500 hemi with the six speed, thiera a lot of power in this package and milage is going to the same with the 4.7 auto or 6sp in a 1500..
I do prefer the manual trans, but thiers no comparison in performane betwean a hemi 6sp in a 2500 vers the 4.7 6sp in a 1500 Ram, the hemi is the only way to go.

I have the 1500, 4.7, 6-speed, 3.92 rear end and I'm satisfied. It will not beat a hemi automatic or a 2500 hemi with a manual, but it will be very close on the later. The reason for that is the 2500 will weigh about 800-1000# more. The 2500 is also a lot more truck for the money. The 2 questions here is can you deal with the ride of the 2500 day i and day out and do you have any need for a 2500. A 1500 with a manual will be harder to sell than a 2500 with a manual. The 4.7 will not snap your head back, but it will haul and tow well. The tow rating is lower on the 4.7 manual than the 5.7 auto, but not because of power. It has to do with starting a rig on a hill. I have a 21' SeaRay that it tows nicely and has no trouble at the ramps either (2wd). Two things have changed since my last manual trans, however. One is my coffee dring habit while driving and second is the use of a cell phone. Both are hampered by the manual. I went with a Bluetooth model to get around the cell phone thing.
