Default 20 inch wheels on a long box

Hey guys, I'm getting a new Ram 2500 with a long box. The concern I have is that I totally hate having a big truck with tiny 17" wheels. I'm planning on purchasing 20" rims with Nitto Terra Grappler tire 305/50/20.
Would there be any issue's with the mechanic's part. Done a comparison from the stock tires to the new ones, and doesn't seem to be a major difference (1.3% on the speedometer).

The concern comes from one of my friends, he purchased a ram 1500 with an 8' box, came with 17" wheels, he wanted to change them to the 20's but the dealership told him that its not recommended due to the wheelbase of the long box and that it would damage the bearings, transmission, etc... Is this true or they just don't know what the are talking about.

Another thing about the 2500 Ram, I would love to lift 2/2.5 inch's, what do you guys recommend?

Thks,
Rebz
