Default What years can I pull a rear from?

I've got an 04 1500 and I decided that I need 4.56 gears and a torsen LSD... Oh and a line-loc... Not for any paticular reason....

Anyway I want to look for a rear out of the yard, build it and then swap the whole rear in. I've built a few rears, but I'm not fast about it. This way I don't have to have the truck out of service for long.

So is it just 02 and up? Can I use the older 9.25 rears?

Thanks,

should be able to use anything from 1984 and up, as long as it uses a tone wheel on the carrier to transmit speed to the MIC....unless you fab up somethin to make it work else wise......could just find the rear end from a srt-10 ram since thats already got 4.56 gears in it and all that good stuff

I'm sure there are SRT-10's just littering the yards...

I'm not looking to do any more fab then I have to. I'm looking for straight plug and play.

I bought this truck so I can play with my other cars and always have a "Stock" vehicle. No more "can't come, trucks still apart" stuff anymore... I swore up and down.... I got the truck home, and within 2 hours I had a cat-back system ordered and on the way... Now I want 4.56 gears. Actually it's that kinda psychotic gear head want that borders on obsessive need. I've also got the itch for some cams... Bone stock it's alot faster then any other truck I've owned, but that's not enough... Damn F-ing hot rod curse..

Believe me if I see one, I'll grab it. I'm going to start looking on my trips to the u-pull it. Complete rears are usually like $80-120. I think the yard would put the SRT10 aside and part it out. Most stuff they don't care, but if it looks like it can make money they put it aside. For example if a Big Block Chevy comes in, they pull it and sell it. 350's go into the yard with everything else...

over 18... I like that...

I hate to drag this post out of the grave, but I can't find an answer to this question. I have been reading for hours and then I saw this title and thought "finally." I have a 2x4 2004 1500, I bought a rear end out of a 2000 2x4 1500 and guess what. With out a good bit of cutting and wielding it is not going to work. So what years will bolt up to an 2004?

I'm thinking 2003 thru 2008 as long as it's 9.25 and has disc brakes.

Yea that is the conclusion I have come to with what I have read. Just looking to see if anyone know for sure. I would love to find a QC SRT-10 rear end, but I think that is a long shot at best.
