buy a ram with high mileage?

RE: buy a ram with high mileage?
My first Dodge was a two-year-old 2500 Wagon (window van) with 80K. It finally needed a new tranny at 183K. Sold it for $1600 and bought an'01 1500 SCSB with 56K (high mileage again). That truck served me well, too. Traded it on my '03 QCSB. IT has 87K on it. I've changed jobs since I bought the '01. I went from a yearly mileage of about 17K to 10K, so I figure this truck should do for five years or so. Then I'll trade it on an '09 Mega Cab.

the hemi motor is stout under proper care. buddies of mine are in the 130-150,000 mile range and run faster times at the track then they did with 50,000 miles. as long as records are there to show oil and fluid changes id have no problem picking one up. if put forty thousand on mine this year alone and no issues after the dreaded clips in the rear end. the weak link is the trans. no way around it as even stock guys had problems around 100,000 miles. (stay outa second prime) id rather have a private party over a dealership on the fact you can find out how well they took care of it. the downside is that wit a dealership you can bring it back pissed and they will help ya out if they have a good reputation to up hold. its a toss up in a way. if you can see the records of mait. i would have no worries. best of luck.
oh alot of factors come into play on where you live. ceratinareas add value just because of the market. i picked up my 03 qc sb 2wd hemi with 40000miles for 14,500. 2 year warranty and lonestar package etc... loaded pretty much for 16 otd
