I have an 07 Ram Hemi Sport 4x2 with the 3.92 rear. When accelerating hard around 75 or 80(passing), in about 3 gear, I am getting a terrible whine that I believe is coming from the transmission. Once it shifts and the RPM's drop, the whine is gone. Does anyone else have this problem??? Can this be fixed or do I just have to live with it??? I don't want towaste my time with the dealer, if they can't do anything.

 

it's under warranty and many people have had problems with weak passing gears in these transmissions. take it in and have them fix it, it's only going to get worse before it fails.

 

I have a whine under cruise in overdrive between 40-45, and again at 60-65. When I disable OD, the noise goes away.

Multiple dealers have been giving me the runaround on a fix. They dont want to open a tranny unless you are stranded roadside.

I'm investigating lemon laws to have them buy back the truck. I'll be happy to keep it if it is fixed 100%, but at this point its not worth the aggravation. Id rather just buy another truck.

 

Also a major "clunk" and grind whe I put it into reverse. POS

 

that reverse issue was actually a tsb if I remember correctly, and is fixed by a flash. No clue on the whine though, unless you are hitting high rpms, then it may be sound coming from your intake.

 

Sound was there before the CAI. I did some testing yesterday. Seems to happen around 4500 rpm, 75 mph around 3 or 4th gear. Once the truck shifts up to the next gear the whine is gone.

 

MY truck whines when i rev it up in park.... I don't think it's the tranny... I just think it's a normal noise....

 

I'm not talking about a whine while in park. Guess you didn't read the part where is says while in passing gear and 75 mph!

Everytime I merge onto the interstate. I drive my truck 100 miles a day during the week and its all interstate.
