Default clay bar

My dad was telling me about this clay bar kit you can use for your paint, he did it on his 2006 chrysler 300 and it worked very well. Paint comes out very smooth. I was wonder if any of you guyshave used this product on your ram trucks. If so what were your results. The kit that he used was from Meguires, there are other companies that make this product as well.

thanks!

Using clay bar on paint on any vehicle will have pretty much the same turn out (depending how much time u want to commit to the job)unless the paint is just terrible already. Like your dad used it on his car I would have the same end product also, its just another way of very fine wet sanding.

I've used clay bars for the last 15 years. They remove grit and grime that's stuck to the paint without leaving swirl marks or residue, like light compound or polish does.

Just use plently of water with either a spray bottle, or a garden hose to keep it lubed. I usually do my vehicles once a year with them, after the crappy winters we have in PA. Follow that with a good waxing and you're done.

clay bars are a great way to smooth out those little bumps that you can feel after grime gets built up. I've always used a quick detailer spray as the lubricant for the bar, but other things should work as well; just make sure you keep it plenty lubricated so that the clay can slide smoothly.

Get a squirt bottle, like the windex kind. Fill it with water and add 5 drops of dish detergent. Use that as the lube.

If you drop the clay, throw it out. It'll pick up grit and scratch the paint.

I cut the bar in half before using one half.

Clay is a wonderful thing.

^^^^^ Yes clay is great. If you want a great claybar and just overall detailing kit in general go with Zaino. www.zainostore.com the basica way to detail a cars paint is well of course you wash it first. then you use a claybar to remove the grit and grime which leaves you with an ultra clean surface. then depending on if the paint is in good shape or not you use a polish. if the paint is in good shape you use a very fine low abrasive polish if it's bad thne you may want to use somethign slightly more abrasive then work up to the low abrasive finishing poilish. this will remove most imperfections in the paint if not all then you use a good quality sealant which is the same as wax but ten times better. synthetic sealants last way way longer up to 6mnths to a year while ordinary wax lasts mebbe a few months at best.

If you go to forum on Meguiar's website, there's alot of information on using a clay bar as well as on detailing a vehicle in general. I've found it to be very helpful.

I had never used clay bars until this year actually. I have to say, I was/am impressed with the results.

And if it's good enough for OldMoparMan then it's good enough for me.

However, nothing helpsremove frickin Love Bug guts, except time and elbow grease.

I'd never heard of this 'til recently. Bought a "kit" of Mother's. I was going to try it first on my Grand Marquis, but I wound up trading it. I'll try it on my daughter's Camry before I tackle the 300C.
