I answered you on the other forum you asked this question on. As I type slow, go there for my explanation why you smoked those gears...

I guess so others getting gears installed won't make the same mistake - you attempted to tow after only 150 miles after install, plus you towed too much, too far with no periods of cooling. (he gave more details on the other forum)

Doesn't sound too good [:@]....most quality shops and vendors warn about proper gear break-in, did the place you have do them not tell you about this ?

What kind of gears did you buy? I wasn't too happy with the genuine gears I bought from 4 Wheel Parts because of the noise on decel. They seem to be holding up after 13,000 miles so I'm not complaing too much, however they did come with directions that talked about the break in period.

BIGMC,
What did the dealer charge for the install? Did they supply the gears? What brand? Did using them keep your warranty intact? I have a 4.7 and 3.55's and was thinking of the swap.

to be honest i work at the dealership as a service writer so i had my lead tech install ther gears. it did not cost me anything to have them installed, but i am having a problems with the gears. they are genuine gears from complete offroad. what chrysler doesn't know wont hurt them.
