Default For those who have Auburn diffs.......

....what oil are you guys using? i'm about ready to change my diff oil since i had the rear done. the manual that came with the diff saysto use 80w90 non-synthetic with ford or gm friction additive. i'm wondering if anybody is using synthetic with your auburn and did you have any ill effects? should i stick with the regular 80w90? do i have to use the ford or gm additive or can i use amsoil?

and if anybody has a pml diff cover feel free to chime in on that too

I have the auburn limited slip and I just use whatever the auto parts store has in 80W90 and whatever additive they have. No synthetic by any means, I called auburn and they said it could clog up the clutches and destroy your rear end. I will be going to all amsoil in that puppy pretty soon if they offer the 80W90 non synthetic and LS additive. Also, if you get somethign that says that the additive in included, it is BS and you will need to add some anyways.

Lucas Heavy Duty 80w90 and a bottle of Amsoil Slip Lock. If I knew before I got the Auburn that I couldn't run synthetic I'd have spent the extra $100 and got the Detroit TruTrac. So I run the Lucas Oil, always regarded as one of the best dino-oils. Somebody gave me the Amsoil Slip Lock to try, and I have no chatter at all, so next time I'll buy one from him.

same here! i even went ahead and bought some amsoil synthetic so i would have it ready for my "after break-in" oil change. waste of $$$$. i too wanted the trutrac, but didn't want to spring for the extra $100. now it looks like i'm going to end up spending more $$ for a pml diff cover to ease the frequent changes of dino oil.

thanks for the crucial info Motorider. i was really hoping to use my synthetic, but i'm definitely not going to now.

thanks guys
