Reason I mention is because the 4.7's are known to crack exhaust manifold studs. The exhaust leak sounds very much like a lifter, but goes away once it warms up, as the manifold expands. Just a thought, I have that problem now.

FWIW: I found that same issue with my 4.7. If you ONLY tighten the loose manifold nut, the leak comes back in a few days.
What happens, is the stud nut siezes on the stud, and the stud comes loose in the head. Tightening it will only make the stud bottom out in the head. You need to either take the stud out and loosen the nut again, or add a washer to the stud, so you can get a little more room (depth) to tighten the stud.
I added a thin washer and some threadlock and it's been 4 months with no issues.

Alot of the 4.7's will tick on a cold start-up (mine does) but then it goes away after a minute or two. Is this what you are experiencing?
