Default Stereo Problem...

Well, I decided to put my aftermarket stereo into my 2006 Ram 1500 tonight but after hours of frustration, the furthest I got was my radio receiving power (I could tell when I flippeddown the face, the illumination lights were on)but not actually turning on (I even cranked my truck and it wouldn't turn on). I am using this " http://www.audio-discounters.com/70-6502.html" wiring harness. Truck came with a standard, not premium sound system. Any idea's on what could be causing this? Oh, and just as an added note, I have two stereo head units from previous vehicles and tried both of them, they both did the same thing.

Yeah, it says its only for an 02. I'm not sure what the difference is between the 06+ stereos and the 05 and older but i'd start with a new wiring harness and see what that does...

ok, I did some research and it seems I "may" need this to get it to work:
http://www.ubid.com/Metra_CHTO-01_In...901786258.html

only problem is it is freaking expensive! I don't have a premium sound system, does anyone know if the stock system comes with a factory amp? I think that's a bunch of **** to spend that much money just to be able to use my aftermarket stereo!

On a side note, the link I provided earlier wassimiliar (the numbers were the same)to the ones I got from Best Buy. The ones I got from best buy say 2002-UP Chrysler vehicles.

the problem is you have to run a seperate acc. power wire to another connector to power the radio up. i believe it would be a red wire to your radio. there should be an unused connector behind the radio bezel that has a power with key on wire. that should work

The reason for the expensive part is because of the CAN-BUS system that runs through the radio.
