Default Wiring for power options.

I just stepped up from a 2001 1500 to a 2004 1500 4x4 quad cab with the 5.7l hemi. My question is how difficult is it to add power locks and windows? What I would really like to know is whether or not the truck is wired for this already and I just need to tie into them. If anybody has input on this I would greatly appreciate some feedback.

Come on someone help this man out !!!

I have an 07 ST w/o power anything and I think i pulled a back muscle reaching over the seats to unlock the other door.

Oh and it was fun carrying all that stuff the other day and needing to reach into my pocket for my keys while standing on one leg and looking like a freaking idiot trying to open the door and not fall on my face.

Unfortunately I don't think they are pre-wired... [&o]

I put power locks in my 04 Ram and I know for a fact that wasn't wired, and Circuit City wanted 450.00 to install wiring, actuators, and labor. I did it myself with a kit off Ebay for 50.00 and 13 hours labor... [X(]

my guess is that the wiring will as go as far as where the door and body meet right there at the A-pillar and thats it....there's a company that makes a power window kit that makes use of the crank window handles and you just puch em up or down to make the window work...havent seen anything for the power locks tho

cant remember the name of the company right at the moment tho....i would assume if you did a search for power window conversion you would find something of use.....same thing for power door locks

The trucks aren't prewired, nor do they have any of the working hardware to upgrade easily too. You would need the wiring, and motor kit jsut for the windows. Then you would need the pulse solenoid, wiring, and the RF controller for the locks. It is not an easy job.

I don't know about the set up that Hemiyellow is talking about, so you would have to check into that on your own or wait to see anyone chimes in with more info.

honestly i think you'd be best off going to the junkyard and pulling all the parts, then just worry about wiring it in yourself....

You guys need to use the search button more often. I changed my manual locks and windows to power. I bought the panels, the switches, the regulators that come with motor and a lot of wire. These trucks are not prewired. You have to run wires all over the m-fer. Its not easy, about a 2 day job for a quad cab. But damn it looks stock and works.

What source did you buy the panels, motor, and KEY FOB from? What was your total cost?

I found the panels and switches on ebay. The regulators with motors on dodgeparts.com. Harness with wires for switches on ebay. S-Load of wires in Radio Shack. 25A fuse to connect to accessory wire. Download the service manual from HEMITRUCKCLUB.com. A lot of patience and plan ahead before starting.
