damn, i start the truck, put on drive and peel off, wow if I was to waste my time waiting for the temp needle to move, i'd be more often idling than driving in these northeastern temps, usually wait 30 secs and i'm off, sorry guys but if the mechanics can't handle this, well I must say that the product is full of ****, the day that the dealer tells me that I didn't warm up my truck long enough in winter which caused the failure (LMAO) i'll give him the keys back and go to the competitors. Just my 2 cents

i'd say bout 5 minutes...
crap, it's illegal to idle your car for more than 3 minutes here.

in the winter i start it, brush off the snow ( i'm in canada ) and hop in and drive off. maybe 2 minutes or so but i baby it and warm up theengine / tranny and diff. before any serious highway or lead foot driving.

hmmm...good question...never drove this truck during the winter, always had other trucks to drive then...still do now that i think about it lol...but when i had my 02 4.7 ram i would let it warm up for about 60 seconds and then go....that truck was a glorified POS anyways...kinda hoped that 4.7 woulda blown up lol

Don't know much about "winter" conditions, because I'm in So-Cal. I like to baby my truck and give it 3-5 minutes...just to get the juices flowing. It RARELY drops below 40 degrees here in the winter.

you can drive em a few secs after start up as long as u take it easy and don't just go mashing the pedal. just give em a bit to get the oil flowing and then ur off

I think mostly for me, is that I hate the way the transmission is sluggish when its cold. Once its warm (not hot) it just shifts better, and I know the engine bearings, lifters, etc are all lubed and ready for driving. And to those that rev their cold truck to warm it up.... well.... you might as well just start it and drive off, because revving with out load is worse for it in my opinion.

I agree with you, everybody I ever talked to said 30 sec max then drive it. It'll warm up better when at power then idle.

Start it up, adjust mirrors, fasten seatbelt, and go. It warms up faster working than idling. Just don't lean on it for a few miles. For an engine that runs at 200+, even 80 is cold. Twenty is only a bit colder.

start up, sit for maybe 20-30 seconds, pull out, and let it go through gears slowly, and not hit the gas hard.

when the engine is still cold, and your driving, try and keep the rpms below 3k, helps with wear. Oil doesnt start lubricating until 150 degrees. As for idle, let it drip to a steady idle, say 30-45 secs. this will also cut wear on the trans due to it engaging at a lower rpm.
