sound from front suspension

RE: sound from front suspension
I've been fighting a similar issue for quite awhile.
I've had it to my purchasing dealer, and more than one tire/suspension shop. No luck.
I ended up finding the problem during an oil change... was underneath the truck pounding (with the palm of my hand) alot of the suspension pieces trying to duplicate the sound. Found it.
At some point the front, passenger side sway bar link had failed. It APPEARED to be comlpete, but was in two piecesandmaking a helluva lotta noise!
Cost me roughly $36.00 to replace link and bushings.
Problem cured.
Might want to check this area. Just a thought.

RE: sound from front suspension
dang i thought for sure it could have been the sway bar but i couldn't get it to make ne sound and it was on there pretty firm. thanks for all the tips guys i guess i'll have to wait for something to fail seriously bad before i figure out where this sound is coming from...despite taking it to my dealer i dont think they are the greatest...the failed to properly install my front passenger driveshaft and when i told them it was wrong they told me it was on there good....chief mechanic finally got involved and fixed the problem...i could pull the damn thing almost all the way off the splines and they told me it was fine lol...anyways thanks again...hopefully i'll find it before the serious failure lol

RE: sound from front suspension
my 06 ram, makes this knocking sound from the front end when going over bumps,
steering wheel shakes a little also, im not sure what it is , but when i hit a bump at speed on the
highway and it does it -truck loses control for a sec.
i kinda suspect those soft control arm bushings

old mopar man i think u've got it...only problem is that i dont have the time nor the skill to do that lol....i work construction and its very very dusty conditions...i wouldn't be surprised if those bushings are dry as a bone inside and to be honest its sounds like it would be that as well....maybe i should take it in and make them replace my soft bushing with the hard ones does neone have that referance number? and do i still have to pay for them to do that i remeber several discussions on front end vibrations because of soft bushings

My 05 with 13,000 milesdoes the same thing, I have been beating my headover this issue for a while now, The dealer said the only thing it might be is the little bit of play I'm hearing in the steering column. I dont believe that for a second though
Theycannot find or fix this issue and it is killing me!!!.
ALso I know its not a shock issue because I replaced all 4

RE: sound from front suspension
....does it sound like 2 squirrels humping...a squeak, squeak?... I had a similar noise on my 05 which i could swear was suspension bushings or something...but it turned out to be my hood bumpstops... I turned them up to the point that i had to almost slam my hood to close...that was it..
