Scratched Rims - What are my options?
Got a situation, I have the stock 20' rims they put on my 2004 Dodge Ram.
I got in a pretty messy situation one night where I was driving down this dirt road when it was rainy as **** and I ended up getting stuck. I know my tires ain't no off-roading tires but the road seemed easy to get through until I found out a part ahead was just about 2-3 feet of mud.
Well trying to get my own *** out of there turning the tires just got all the rocks and **** that were in the mudd to scratch up my rims. Now they're pretty bad.
I guess i'm asking what I can do with it besides the obvious of buying new rims.
I've heard:
- buffing could be an option (but any suggestions on that?)
- and is there a possibility somewhere that they would be able to take off my rims, re-chrome them up? Local tire store? Dodge? Ball-park estimate in cash?
Anything would help. Just had this for awhile and well it just brings down the aw-factor for my truck.

When I was tboned a year ago, one of my rims (aluminum 06 20's) got a large gash from the curb. The body shop sent it off to be refinished, which was like 200-250 bucks if I remember correctly. The rim looked brand new when it came back; so it may be possible to get them refinished.
go to the dealer and buy a new plastic cap for it....cause thats all it is, just a plastic cover over a steel wheel....prolly be as cheap or maybe a lil cheaper then having it refinished and also prolly be alot quicker as well
Dude thanks guys. Yeah about getting it refinished, I don't think I have enough money for that, all 4 rims are scratched. But plastic covers huh? Interesting because mine are chromed out. But I guess it's going to be cheap - fast - and back to normal with the caps?
