Default 04 Ram 1500 HELP!!

hey guys...
i have an 04 ram 1500 quad cab short box with a 4.7 L auto. i checked last night and the sticker for the gears is 3.92. i am getting terrible mileage. about 12 around town and only 16 on a trip to pittsburgh. the truck also seems to be "hunting" for gears when shifting. any suggestions?? i had this similar problem on my 2500 V10 and it was the throttle position sensor. could it be the same problem? thanks alot for your help...
chris

I'm getting the same gas mileage, without the gear-hunting thing. I can't help you, with that, I'm afraid. Sorry.

That mileage sounds about right. I get 15-16 average and I have the 3.55's. Just put 35's on though and will be needing 4.56's.

Yea, doesn't seem to be much difference in the gas mileage between the 4.7 and Hemi. I have a ton of heavey mods (lift, 35" tires, brush/grille guards, winch, etc.) and I'm about where you are, upper 12's to low 13'saround town and upper 15's to low 16's highway.
Only difference is with all the Hemi power, considerably more than stock even, thanks to CIA, exhaust, Superchips, headers, etc., I'm delighed with my gas mileage.

I have 2004 dodge ram. Honestly when i first got my truck I was getting around 9-11MPG in town, depending on driving habits. I got my mods and definitely boosted up my MPG with better driving habits with. Cause you can definitely tell the difference with cetain mods.

- K&N Air Intake (good investment)
- Throttle Body Spacer (good investment)
- Flowmaster Exhaust Delta Flow (not so good because when it sounds beastier you want to just floor it and that doesnt help)/ but still it's sweet
- SUPERCHIPS (definitely a must, that helped alot with shiftpoints and firmness)

Now i'm getting about 12-14MPG in town, and 18-20 MPG HWY. But it depends what speed ur rocking out at.

I have a 4x2 hemi and I get around 22mpg highway if I keep it at 60mph.

With local driving mixed in im averaging 18mpg at fillups.

Rented a 4.7 for 3 weeks and the milage is indeed worse than the hemi.
