2003 MY produced hemi's in the trucks didn't have MDS, and it is much more then just swapping a computer....the MDS hemi's have different lifters and they also have a solenoid to activate the lifter to make the MDS work

Hi Tommy from Denmark,
Welcome to the forums.

I think you are saying, you want to add MDS toyour 2003?
If so, no MDS it is not backwards compatible. That I know of.

MDS involves both electronic and mechanical parts. PCM,fuel system, and valve train componets.

I haven’t heard or looked to see if anyone is doing this.
Usually people are trying todisable or remove MDS.

I think the cam may be different too, and the 03's have a separate tcm and pcm, whereas the newer rams have a combined pcm/tcm if I remember correctly.

I don't think it's a project that no one wants to even try... .I've heard that the cams are different... there are multiple sensors in various locations... The computer is different... If you want the MDS that bad... just get a new truck.... Other then that... hmmm...

hey all and thanks for all the answers.

i like to switch to the MDS so i can get a better fuel economy - you see in Denmark we pay the same for 1 liter gas,as you pay for a gallon thats about $38 a gallon and its the truth.
http://www.shell.com/home/Framework?siteId=dk-da look at the prices in the right side thats for 1 liter!![:@]

so i like to get the MDS. but i understand that it cant be done- and i came to think about it today the compression needs to get out too and thats the mekanic part of it so it cant be done - but thanks for the answers.

In Denmark you dont just by a new truck - the price for a 1500 ram 2003 5,7 l hemi with 41.000 mph is $40.000 - i beleve it´s the same as you pay for a SRT-10 right??

this is a used SRT 10about 42000 mph. ---> http://www.dba.dk/asp/soegning/detail.asp
the price is $64267 + tax $16066 = $80300 (look in the text it says "+ moms" thats tax)

there is not many of this cars over here - they cant sell them to others than people like me Americancar lovers!!

and as you see we pay a lot to the goverment in tax andduty

Hi piphansfrom me in England.
WOW and I thought I had it bad?????

The prices we pay are way over the top.
Our governments suck big time with taxes and stuff.
Never mind. Have you tried to run your Ram on LPG fuel?
I know it's readily available on the continent in Europe.
My truck runs great on it at a fraction of the cost of petrol. 20,000 miles now.
That would definately be the way forward for you, if LPG is low in price over in Denmark?
Prinz in Holland do the LPG conversionkit that I use and I can't speak highly enough of it.
Post up and let me know if you have the LPG option.
BTW, welcome to the forum bud.
Al

Hello England!

the price for LPG fuel is even more expensive £1 a liter thats $1,98 a liter
and if im right the efficiency on LPG is lower thanpetrol/gas so it´s not an option ... but thanks for your offer - its the danies tax that makes everthing expensive here.

thanks
tommy

Dude piphans. . . that's crazy. I know more why you want MDS but I wish I had it too. I have 2004 Ram and it didn't come with MDS, I think it starts around 2005? I think, or is it 06 models? anyways, I missed it by getting an 04. But man, that sounds crazy nuts for gas prices and seems like you might just have to come to the US to get somewhat more reasonable gas prices.
