Default Ram Air

Anyone have this:

https://www.ramairhood.com/store/scr...p?idproduct=40

Or something like it.

I really want one of these hoods, but before I drop the $$$ Ineed some feed back. Did your hood fit like it should? Were you happy with the paint? Do you notice performance increase? Any increase in MPG?If youdid the install yourself, was it complicated? etc...

Anyone have any experience with any aftermarket hoods? Know any materials to avoid? My bodyshop told me that aftermarket fiberglass hoods take LOTS of prep work to make them look good. I've also found that the Ram Air thing causes issues on this forum, and I don'tmean to start a debate on that issue, just looking for some feedback. Thanks!

What do you want to get out of it? Performance, looks, or both? I bought a steel aftermarket hood. Fiberglass needs to be pinned and I heard they don't always fit right, straight from the vendor. Plus they warp and such, from heat...the paint cracks, etc.... Too many cons, so I went with steel. Check out the hoods on:

I want both performance and looks. Does a functioning hood provide performance increases that are similar or equal to a CAI? I would assume that at minimum it would. Thanks for the link to the steel hoods, I believe that will be the direction I will go. Any other good steel hood sites from anyone?

My personal preference would be to go with steel. Unfortunately the hood I'm looking at getting eventually is fiberglass. That being said, I know people who swear by fiberglass and I know people who swear at it. Here in Winnipeg (Canada), over the course of the year, temperatures will go from 100F in summer to -15F in winter and I've seen aftermarket hoods in both materials that have held up really good and really bad. So I guess it comes down to how it's made. As to performance, I don't think you'll really get any from the whole "ram air" effect, but you will get some due to the fact that the vent is getting you more cold air to the intake.
