2003 Dodge Ram heater fan not working correctly
Hey guys, asked on my car's specific forum and didn't get much of a reply, thought I'd try here. We have a 2003 Dodge Ram quadcab 4X4 Sport, and the interior heater fan motor is acting up. When we turn on the fan it won't start, you have to put it on full power, make sure it's set to outside air, open a window, and drive fast to get the motor to 'kick on' so to speak. Has anyone else had that problem? In the summer it's uncomfortable and annoying, but in the winter it could be really dangerous to not have defrost working.
Once it's blowing it's fine, but even if we stop in somewhere for a few minutes and come back out, it sometimes won't work. I'm wondering if it's the bearings, the motor itself, if something might be caught in the fan, just thought I'd maybe ask before I tear apart the underside of my dash, guessing I'll have to do that anyway but I wanted to see if anyone has had this happen before?

I'd almost wonder if its a bad relay or something with the intermittent operation. I despise electrical stuff like this. Get a test light/multimeter and check at the fuse box first then start working down/up the line.

I had a previous vehicle that had a dead spot in the blower motor. It had to be bumped to get going. Not exactly sure how the fans operate in the ram, but that could possibly be the cause of the intermittent operation.
