Default 2004 Ram - Turbo Modification Question

Out of curiosity - "If I decide to get a turbo charger system into my 2004 5.7L Ram 1500 what will I have to watch for?"

- I have to lose my K&N Intake obviously, but what else would I have to modify or lose for the accomidation of a turbo system?
(from word of mouth from others, I heard that if I drop in a turbo system, i'd have to work on certain parts of my truck to keep it from wearing and tearing substantially - what woudl those things be?)

- If I get a turbo system, does that limit me from adding other modifications such as : headers? exhaust? and anything else that I might want to add?

- And would it be worth it in your opinion? Pros and cons and if it's really something I should invest in.

I am asking because I have been contemplating lately of whether adding an STS turbo system into my truck because that would be sweet money, but really just hesistant beacuse I'm thinking would it cost and arm and a leg after that? Plus i've heard issues about the turbo system being located at the bottom of the truck infront of the rear tire making it a problem if I were to be in heavy rain or such. So maybe looking for a turbo system that remains under the hood would be best. Anyways. . . just need those questions answered and opinions/suggestions.

If you go with an STS turbo, you don't need headers/CAI, hiflow this or that or any of that NA stuff.

NO, you don't need to beef anything up on runs that involve only upshifts. Our trans has a problem downshifting from 3rd into 2nd prime.

But the superchargers have that same problem. Our trans doesn't like to hit passing gear under power.

The turbo actually replaces your stock muffler. My truck has no muffler and it about as loud as a flowmaster.

The BS you are reading/hearing about the remote under truck location is from guys that don't have one. Take that into consideration. My air filter is located between the right quarter panel of the bed and the bed about as high as the gas cap. I live in the northeast. I deal with rain/snow you name it.

Are you going to install this yourself with buds, or go to an installer? If you go to an installer, he has to be very familiar with the hemi pcm and smt.

This system makes a lot of power (more than the superchargers) and makes a ton more mpg, but its not plug and play.

I'm an STS dealer and have the cheapest prices in the country, but I won't sell you one with the smt-6 hemi kit if you or installer is not really good, not just, I stayed at a whatever last nite.

Is it worth it, HELLYEAH!

Ballpark, what's this going to cost me for the kit? And what should an installer be charging?

Its not plug and play and not for somebody that isn't really into mechanics and electrical systems.

What I'm saying is, if you need an installer, you probably should not do the turbo.

The problem is the Dodge, **** PCM programming.

The turbo install is not that hard. The tuning is the problem because of the pcm.

I probably could install it myself, but I was willing to pay someone to install the kitb/c I assumed they'd also be able to tune it, no? Isn't that what professionals are for? I could probably do lots of things but I pay others to do them b/c they're more efficient or have more experience.

There are probably less than 10 guys in the country that can tune a 5.7 hemi with a turbo properly.

And, even then, some hemi's still can't be tuned right for normal street driving.
