Default wiring extra lights?

How do I connect the extra lights so that they are switched on with the existing driving lamps? What I'm wondering is where to connect pin 86 on the relay?

Thanks in advanced!

Gunde

Try this link and see if it matches what you are looking for: http://www.the12volt.com/relays/relays.asp

If you bought the lights in a kit there should be instructions or a diagram of the relay schematic that should look like the link above. In the left and middle diagrams of the link (same relay) your 12Vgoing tothe new lights would be on pole 87, normally open (NO) - the normally closed pole (NC) would be left unused. If youwire pole 86 in the diagram to the other lights 12V supply that you want these lights to "pick" from then they will go on together.

Good luck, I hope I never have you behind me at night with all those lights in your grille!

Hi gchildre, and thanks for your reply!

I think you're safe in Atlanta

I'm having a hard time finding the high beam control signal. Pin 85 is connected to ground, but where do I connect pin 86?

This is the wiring diagram for an 02 Ram for the headlight bulb connector, this would be the easiest place to get the relay pick voltage. The color of the wire is white base with a light green stripe.

Ok, the graphic showed during my reply but disappeared when the post was saved. On the headlight connector to the headlight bulb behind the headlamp assembly, the connector has 3 wires in it. The connector is flat across the top and semi-circle shaped on the bottom; 3 wires total on the connector in a rough row across. Wire 3 is towards the inside(radiator side) of the drivers (left hand side) headlight, white with light green stripe on an 02, yours could be different.

Thanks again for your reply! There seems to be sort of a switched current on my 9007 lamps... When I connect pin 86 to the high beam cable, the extra lights glitches on and off all the time... When I messure the voltage, it switches between 3.77-6V.

Ser man pÄ Har krÄnglat ett tag nu... Jag Àr dej evigt tacksam om du löser detta!

Just measured the switch on the steering column. The cable that controls the high beam is purple/yellow, but it's useless. The voltage drops from 5V to 3V whenever I switch to high beam or low beam

Isn't there someone on this board that have a similar configuration?
