Just giving you Heads Up a lot of headers after you install them you will have a hard time getting to the plugs the primmary tubes are right in the way #1, #2 you mite have a problem with you O2 unit finding the right place to reinstall it you computer mite not work right, #3 header dont last as long as the stock Manafolds, #5 most newwer trucks the stock Manafolds flow almost or sometimes better than aftermarket Headers on a stock Engine.
Just trying to save you so,me cash there other things you can sink you or her cash in to that you notice more. More bang for the Buck.

Clubbin,
First of all let me state, even without knowing what she looks like, I want your girlfriend! My ex never bought ANYTHING for any of my trucks, jeeps, suv's, etc., and only bitched when I did!
Secondly, even though I have an '04 Hemi now, I had a '98 5.9 and did LT headers. They are fairly easy to install, especially if you have access to a lift, or at least if the truck is lifted. You can get to the bottom bolts from underneath and take the wheel well liners out and get to all the top bolts without even taking the tires off.
However, you are not gonna see much in the way of performance with the shorty's and I believe you're kinda out in "no man's land" with that '02 new body style with older 5.9 engine. I believe there are LT's and mids for the '01 and back, and the '03 and up Hemi, but nobody is really supporting your truck. I just did a quick search and could only find shorty's in any brand. Never the less, you will get some small gains and they would no doubt add some great sound, especially if you have an aftermarket exhaust.
One more thing, black painted won't last long at all, stainless would be better, ceramic would be best. Maybe you could add the difference and get ceramic coated?

Clubin11,
I have the Gibson GP301 headers on my 02 Ram. They run about $425 in nickel/chrome, more for stainless or ceramic. They are a direct bolt on, the bolts are tough to get tight, you have to use a wrench since there isn't room for a socket. There were no other complications, one other poster to your question mentioned spark plug clearance, there were no issues there with my install. I didn't remove any fender liners, just patiently worked the bolts from the top and the bottom. There are more performance upgrades to the 5.9 than most of the hemi guys realize but they are right that anyone making performance upgrades to the 5.9 are obviously selling to a smaller market. I put the Gibson Split Extreme cat back exhaust on first and then a few months later went with the headers. I did the exhaust & headers before any of my other upgrades. The exhaust sound is deep and noticeable with both, I can't scientificallyquote any performance gainsbut they look and sound good and the truck ran better with them both thanstock. Whether this is the right mod for the money, everyone can give you their opinion but it's your choice. I ended up with a rattling catalytic converter after all my upgrades that I had to replace, it's anyone's guess if one mod did it in or if it was just time. I looked at a new hemi before my upgrades and just decided that I liked my truck and wanted to keep it.
Good luck
