Default Need To Replace Shocks..Taking Suggestions...:0)

Hello,

I have a 2003 DQC 4.7 and I am fixing to replace the shocks all the way around (But I will replace the rear shocks first). Has anyone had good luck with any particular brand or what. I am just looking for suggestions...any help would be appreciated...:0)

If you polled this question, my guess is you'd get about 45% say Bilstein's and half of those guys would bash Rancho's. 40% Rancho and half of those guys would bash the Bilstein guys for bashin' the Ranchos and 15% for all the other shocks put together.
So, the moral is, look at the Bilsteins and the Ranchos. Forget the rest.
Personally, I have Rancho RS9000X's. Didn't choose them, they were free when I got my Rancho Suspension Lift. Cost for them is about $90 each though. So far, they are the best shock I've ever owned in 24 years of having 4x4 Trucks.

I was searching for the same things, but am now lifting my truck so not really an issue.

Although i do know that both bilstein and Rancho are very good shocks, and not to bag on your prerunner, but i ran pro comps on my old jeep and 4 runner, and they were terrible. were fine at first but had really poor longevity. Maybe that has changed though

good luck

I like the Bilstiens I've got, made a very big difference in the ride. That being said, i've got friends who run Rancho's (I believe the 9K's) who swear by them. I have also heard from a local 4X4 shop that pro-comp's are great for the first "while" (what is a "while" I asked and got "uh...well...you know, like maybe 6 months or a year") but then go to crap. I'm interested to hear what NYPANAMA42 thinks of his Monroe's....

After all of those words, Bilstiens or Rancho 9K's seem to be the top choices today..
