2500 Bigger Tires
I realize this gets covered a lot here, but I'm new so... I have a 2005 2500 Quad Cab Long Bed 4x4. I still have my stock 265 BFGRs on and want to step it up. I have a buddy who can get me Dunlops at no charge. We talked tothe tireguy who said they had some 35" that should fit with no mods except for maybe the wheelwell plastic a little. I'm not sure if I want to go that big - I know it will look sweet but it is my everyday driver. Think I should get 33"s or 35"s? And what about the Dunlops? Also do you guys agree that the 35"s will fit without much modification. Thanks
Invest in Fender flares....the stock BFG on my 06 2500 have done a number on my paint...The Rims stick out of the Fenders and throw rocks/mud trapped in the Groves of the BFG...
Yeah, I agree it will look great, I guess I'm just unsure of how much it will change ride, handling... Plus my girlfriend already complains the truck is too big now. But I told her I'd get her some step bars.
You're right about the damage to the paint. When I got it back in '05 it took me few months to get my molded mud flaps and the bottom panel behind my rear wheels got chipped like crazy.
The 35's would probably fit okay without it, but as tdmopar59 recommends, I'd get a leveling kit. That's what I did on my '05 2500. I ended up with the metric equivilant of 34" tires and there's tons of room. You'll definately want the fender flares or your fancy tires will chew your paint up quick, and the steps, nerfs, or whatever you prefer will all of a sudden become a necessity if your significant other isn't very tall (mine is five foot nothin' and had to jump to get in the truck before the nerfs)...
I've never run a set of Dunlop truck tires so have no opinion there. I have run BFG's (great tire, kinda noisy but they have a classic tuff look), and am currently runnin' some Toyo's that are at present my all time favorites.

I appreciate the input. I've never had Dunlop truck tires either - ran two sets BFGs on my jeep and the stocks on my truck and have been pleased. Only reason I'm considering the Dunlops is the factI can get them free. May have to go that way if it looks like I'm going to be getting into the flares, leveling kit, and steps.
check and make sure they are E rated. . .even though you have a hemi, the 2500's do weigh a good bit more than the 1500's and the E rateing on the tires may keep you from haveing death wobble issues.
