The keys do not put "extra" load on the bars like cranking them does. Here is an easy way to look at it: You have a TQ wrench and socket on your wheel lug. The handle of the TQ wrench stands straight up at 12 o'clock. There two ways to get that handle to 3 o'clock. 1) Just grab it and pull it until it's pointing at 3 o'clock, but when you did that, you increased the TQ on the nut, did you not? 2) Pull the socket off the nutrotate the handle to 3 o'clock, put the socket back on. No increase in TQ. Our keys are like that socket, when we crank the adjusting nuts, you are twisting that bar more(or increasing TQ) to push the tire down. A new key is re-establishing the base-line/no-load pointwhere the tireis down without increasing tq.

The extra stress you are exerting on the bar is the reason those of us who crank thebars get a stiffer ride. Your "rest" point for the bar now has too much tq applied so when it moves evenfarther from rest you exceed the point where the engineerswanted the bar to stop twisting.

At first, I was like everyone else, "they do the same thing", then someone much smarter then me explained it like above and then the light-bulb went off.

Oh yeah, as for shocks, I've been told the Bilsteins give a great ride but since my stockers still work, I haven't tried them yet. And don't forget to re aim your headlights!

i have the procomp 6" lift on my truck and i still need to re aim the headlights also. but my lift came with the new keys and a new torsion bar crossmember so that they would be at the same level as the rest of the lift as far as shocks are concerned i am running a set of pro comp MX6 adjustable shocks and i love them. i have had plenty of lifted trucks and this one in my opinion rides better than any of the others that i have had!

ok now i see wut ur saying but dont u still need to get new shock becuase it still raises the truck. also i dont mind the stiffness comparing to my uncles megacab with 6inch lift. that thing bounces like crazy.i looked at the cv joint and nothing seems to be at extreme angles so im happy with it. just need to shocks and alignment.

Oh you definitely need new shocks at that height. I didn't because I didn't go as high. The hard part is determining how big a shock you need. Ranchos are fine and dandy but more for the serious off-road guys. Rancho's are well known tobe pretty stiff.

Duso02 is right. I tried it both ways but went with the torsion keys. With the keys with the same amount of turns of the torsion screws the truck sits higher, therefore you don't have turn (crank) them up as high to get your desired amount of lift. This gives you a better ride than just turning up screws. I also had to replace my front shocks because they topped out.

They also make shock absorber mount extenders, so no replacement is necessary......
