if the superchips was used on one truck and the truck was sold is there a way i can use it on mine? a way to reset it or something

The only way that I am aware of is if the truck was set back to stock before it was sold. If that is not the case then I don't think you can have it reset by superchips unless you are the original owner with the receipt.

And SC is not very sympathetic to those who buy a unit when it is "locked" to another vehicle. I've read many a post from people buying them on ebay and they are still installed on another vehicle. SC's policy is basically to tell you 'tuff luck.

thats bs!!! ill be pissed.... i thought he reset the other truck b4 he traded it in so he could sell it... and he didnt want the dealership comin to him if there was a problem bc of a "hidden" mod...

I believe I've read posts on their forum where it's $200 even if you have the receipt. Basically, if it's locked that means it's installed on another vehicle, and they are doing you a favor at the $200, because you should have to buy a new unit to use it on a 2nd vehicle.
Kinda sucks, but I do see their point.

I hate buying used electronics because you never know what will happen.

Maybe your buddy could say that he forgot to remove it before the dealer did service and that is how it got locked. That might work since he has the receipt for it.
