Towing: Is my 1500 gonna handle it?
It has some type of trany cooler on either on that go's thought the stock radiator or one that bolts to the engine radtiator just follow the lines from the trany and see where they go you can splice in to them there most aftermarket coolers comes with instructions how to install them you mite have to get a barb kit to hook the rubber hoses to no big deal.
Or go to a trany shop but lot of them will stick to you and make you buy there stuff ask someone at work someone will know or help you out.

I have an 06 Hemi. our horse trailer weighs 5000pds empty, and with horses in it is pushing 6000-6800pds. I havent had any problems yet due to towing. but i am Religious about rear end service. Switched to amsoil. Going to switch tranny to same. I dont baby my truck. Just treat it right and service it often.
Another question for you guys. If you have a Tranny Temperature guage installed, and you're towing and see the tranny temperature getting hot. What do you do? I'm trying to find the benefits of having the temperature gauge installed.
Would i/Should i pull over? Or is that a indicator to me, to have the transmission fluid changed?

If he keeps on driving it with over temp he will end up pulling over one way or the other.
Yea you rather pull over you'r self and let it cool down before you have no other choice to pull over and shut it down then you be calling the meat hook to get you to a shop.
Last time I had to call a tow truck it cost me $250.00 but I was stuck about 60 feet off the road hit a rain washout been down that road hundered times before but this time it sucked me in, $250.00 just to get pulled out Oh yea the rear tires were about 3 feet off the ground and the truck was sitting on the front bummper and high centered, 4-WD did not help out this time ground was to wet and soft it just dug a bigger hole 6 inch lift 37 inch tires posi both ends did not help out at all this time.

No you should be just fine with that load, if you come across one cheap or it'll make you feel better go for it. I dont have one and tow more than that just fine. One thing i plan on adding is air bag's. Just for my own preferance, i feel it is a little easier on the suspension that way. not a necessity though. You are well under the rating
It would be nice to have it puts weight more evenly on all you'r tires the same with out it puts most of the weight on the rear of the truck.
But no you most likly will not have to have on with only 6000 lbs first try to tow with out one see how it pulls you trailor shoud be level when hook to the truck not rear end high or front high this will make the trailor pull funny it's harder on the truck and will give you a bad ride.
If you load the trailor you'r self try to keep the weight more or less even front to back BUT you want most of the weight towards the front you want more tounge weight than tail weight to much tail weight will give you a bouncy ride you have to much leverage in the rear you want to keep the rear truck tires fimly on the ground if it gets to light in the rear you could lose control the trailor willyank the rear of the truck where it wants to go THISCOULD BEVERY BAD.
