I need car seat help
Hi,
I've been through my manual and I've been trying to figure out how my sons car seat "became" loose. I put the seats in so tight that when the seat moves...the car/truck moves. Well two days later, the seatbelt isn't locked any more. I could just pull it like any of the others. Now I can't get any of them to lock. I pull the seat belt all the way out and there's no clicking or locking or anything? Because now I can't remember if when I put it in (only once) if I heard any clicking then either... Any suggestions, is this normal, Do i need to find my local dealer? It's an 03, and I've had it for about two weeks now.

I read the manual to see how to get the particular vehicles seatbelts lock in position. This for a forward facing kid 55lbs. I have carseats in a Montero Sport, G35 Sedan, and a Honda Odyssey, soI have to read thecar/trucks manuals cause each car/manufacturer has it'sown system. I'm using theright rear passenger seat. It's a Britax car seat and Iam not using the latch system, over 30lbs. I am using the top tether My experience has been that the H clip is for the lap belts typically found in the middle seats. All 3 belts in the back of my QC are 3 pointers. Are the H clips required for these belts? Please Help, if not my new toy is going to be parked....
i use the the supplied belt that goes through the seat and attach to the anchors along w/ the upper tether strap. there are enough anchors to use the seat in the middle or on either side. i'm not sure which seat you have exactly, but if it does come w/ it's own strap to run through the middle to each side anchor, i'd use that.
The H clip is required if not using the tether system.... the standard belt.. like the ones on the front seat can be used with a booster seat... But the standard seat must be secured with either the tether system.....the top is for add security.....or you need to use the H clip...
Thanks I'll break out the H clip. I thought you weren't suppose to use the latch along with the seat belt. Per the car seat directions my sons weight exceeds the use of the latch system, I have to use the vehicle belt with the car seat.
Thanks Again,
JB

Go get you a booster seat, and use the seat belt just like you put it on. My son is 50lbs., and that is what we use. A booster seat is like $20, that way you don't have to park your toy.

Couldn't get the '03 manual online, so I got this from the '04 manual. Second to the last paragraph refers to a belt type witha "cinching latch plate" that needs to be retightened periodically. Could you possibly have one of these puppies in your QC? I'll try to remember to check mine in the morning...
BTW, you just did me a big favor by posting.... my boys just recently weighed in at 40lbs and 41lbs... thanks to you I checked the manuals to the Cosco child restraint seats in the truck and in our minivan... looks like I need to strip out the harnesses convert them to belt-positioning boosters now since they're over 40 lbs. Guess the Cosco seats not like your Britax since the Britaxharness can (or must) be used no matter how much the child weighs, which is nice. Get what you pay for, huh?
I'm inclined to second The Peddler's advice if your seat belt doesn't stay tightly cinched... get a belt-positioning child restraint seat. The Cosco Ventura seatsI have in the truck were like $40 from Wal-Mart, my boys seem to be comfortable in them (both fell asleep on a 5+hour flight last month in these seats... using the harnesses). Food for thought.Beatsparking the Hemi, doesn't it?
