Brand New 3G Ram Spare Tire Lock - Theft Deterrent
Hello everyone. A friend of mine has just created an excellent new product that many of you may be very interested in. He is not very internet savvy so I'm trying to get the word out for him, and wanted to hit Dodgeforum.com first.
Like many of you, he had his 2006 Ram Spare tire stolen right out of his driveway, in broad daylight. When armed with the right tools a thief can steal one of these spares in less than 20 seconds. The product he has come up with is a Lockable Access Plug that is inserted into the access hole to retrieve your spare tire. This plug completey Locks & Blocks the access to your spare tire, leaving would be thieves looking for their next target. This kit comes complete with a weatherproof rubber boot that fits on the bottom of the lock to prevent any debris getting into the lock itself. He has soldsome of these toa fewDodge Dealerships across the country but has never sold them online until now. We are working on a website that should be completesoon, but have started offering them on eBayfor now.If you are at all interested please check out the current auction :http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=140183423847

Had a similar factory setup on my old GMC except instead of a padlock used inside the insert itself locked in the hole with a key. Great idea since you can't drop the wheel to steal. Was disappointed when I purchased my Dodge that something so simple couldn't be incorporated into the design. Then again it would have cost a few extra cents per vehicle.
Yeah, Locks are sweet until you get a flat and the lock is so gummed up you cant get your key into it and have to steal your own spare. makes for a long night

In reponse to the post above mentioning how locks can get all gummed up and are a pain to remove, this kit comes with a tight weatherproof rubber boot that covers the bottom of the lock, that is easily removed in the event you need to undo the lock. Therefore eliminating any debris from getting into the lock itself.
My sons ford has a similar setup stock. It has a place you insert the key by flipping down a little door. I thought it was a pretty good idea to have that.
